Hwy. 93 South of Ravalli to Medicine Tree, Ravalli, Montana

This project entailed excavation, reconstruction and realignment of a 5 mile roadway stretch, involving excavation of 400,000 cubic meters, placement of special borrow and base, installation of super span-multiplate wildlife crossings, construction of a new bridge, and construction of a rest area along side the National Bison Range on Highway 93.  There was also work through the town of Ravalli which consisted of installing a storm water sewer system along with sidewalk, curb & gutter, as well as an intersection traffic light and street lighting.
 
Hwy. 95 Setters Road to Bellgrove, Worley, Idaho

Construction of 5 miles of new roadway with 1.1 million cubic meters excavation, 270,000 metric ton of rock cap, 170,000 metric ton of rock armor, 120,000 metric ton of drain rock.  There was also 12,000 meters of edge drain piping installed with the majority of the work completed during the 2005 & 2006 construction seasons.
 
Metaline Falls to the International Border, Metaline Falls, Washington

Reconstruction of 13 miles of roadway to “all weather” standards.  Included 200,000 cubic yards of rock excavation, 230,000 ton of rock cap.  Challenges on this project were working in close proximity to the traveling public and excavating rock cuts as high as 80 feet.

Construction of 1.5 miles of new roadway which required clearing, grubbing, earthwork, installation of an MSE retainment wall, and drainage system.  There was also demolition of buildings, placement of aggregate base, paving, wetland construction, and constructing a bridge crossing the Payette River.

Approximately 9 miles of highway construction including over 680,000 cubic meters of excavation, fill, bridge removal and construction, irrigation pipe removal and installation, stream and storm water culverts, rip rap placement, erosion and sediment control, guard railing, fencing, access approaches, gravel and cement treated base placement, asphalt paving and traffic control. This project was double shifted and successfully completed approximately one season ahead of the state's allowable time budget.
 
West Butte Road South of Prineville, Oregon

Realignment and new construction of approximately 14 miles of roadway requiring drilling and blasting, excavation of 200,000 cubic yards, fill, culvert and arched pipe installation, storm water drainage, and a total of 250,000 tons of crushed aggregate.
 
Gould City - Mayview Road Phase 2

Reconstruction and realignment of approximately 6 miles of roadway. The project included excavation of 280,000 cubic yards of material and placement of embankment, installation of storm culverts, rip rap, ballast, top course placement, paving, traffic control, erosion and sediment control.
 
Dufort Road Stabilization

Dufort Road Stabilization
Reconstruct failed section of Dufort Road above the Pend Oreille River. Work required excavation of the failed granular sub base, and placement of large rip rap from below the high water mark to the road elevation in order to buttress the road and prevent future slippage. The work was performed in a highly sensitive environmental area with steep slope.
 
Bischoff Canyon

Bischoff Canyon
Reconstruct and realign 7.3 miles of U.S. Highway 89 Bischoff canyon to Geneva, including clearing and grubbing, blasting, excavation, grading, fill, drainage, culverts, runoff control, wetlands mitigation, base and surface paving. We operate 7days a week and 24 hours a day; and excavate over 2,600,000 cubic yards. This project was in an environmentally and historically sensitive area with extensive monitoring.

Improvement of 1.26 miles of US Hwy. 395. Removal of existing intersection, and constructing a partial cloverleaf interchange. Included clearing and grubbing, removing pavement, grading, drainage detention systems, crushed surfacing, paving with asphalt and cement concretes, construction of reinforced concrete bridge, approach slabs, erosion control, guardrail, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, illumination, signing, storm and sanitary sewers, and water lines.

Silverstar Project
Seven miles of reconstruction Highway 41 north of Twin Bridges, Montana. The project included excavation, grading, approaches, drainage, culverts, fencing, gravel road base, and paving. Placing 96" concrete pipe, and rebuilding sections of the irrigation canal that meandered throughout the project was both interesting and challenging.
 
Arrow to Turkey Farm, State Highway 3

This project consisted of the realignment and reconstruction of over six miles of Idaho State Highway 3. Clearing, grubbing and rock Cap, Rip Rap and rock and dirt excavation totaling over 800,000 cubic yards were included. Scope stabilization, Gabian and MSE walls and a fish ladder added to the challenges this project presented.
 
Wrenco Loop to Dover

This project involved realigning US Highway 2 near Sandpoint, Idaho. It included new drainage items, wetland mitigation and rock armoring of the slopes. The total excavation was 750,000 CY with a large portion of that being rock.
 

Yakima Training Center, Road Upgrade Mitigation Phase 5A

This project included reconstructing 82 miles of existing road at the Yakima Training Center. Subgrade was recompacted and 10 inches of rock was placed. The work also included many new culverts and 150,000 CY of realignment excavation.

 
Hill Road

Construction of 2 miles of new roadway, reconstruction of intersection at Gary Lane and Horseshoe Bend, Rd., sewer line installation, storm drain and irrigation pipe retaining wall, pre-cast concrete bridge, signal light installation, and landscaping. Project included hauling, placement and compaction of 300,000 thousand cubic yards of embankment.
 
St. Joe River Road to Meadowhurst Rd. and Reid's Corner near St. Maries

This project was essentially a widening/elevation raising improvement of the existing dike road on the floodplain of the St. Joe River, including a similar segment of realignment across an adjacent field. This project also included construction of 4200 square meters of mechanically stabilized earth wall.

The second project ('Reid's Corner') was a floodplain of the St. Joe River and involved a cut section through a large forested hill, realigning an existing hairpin turn into a straight highway section and blending into existing SH-3 to the north. 

Ground disturbing activities included clearing and grubbing, excavation (both of soil and existing asphalt highway surface), cut and embankment construction, drainage construction, and wetland mitigation construction.

 
U.S. 95 Slide Repair North of Riggins, Idaho

The primary purpose of the work was to mitigate an active slide area by restoring the slide mass located at milepost 210.5 on U.S. Highway 95, to a more structurally capable slope. Work involved major earthwork (excavation of over 220 thousand cubic yards of material), material wasting activities and the placement of base rock and a plantmix overlay. Work also involved the placement of new culverts, guardrail and rock fall protection fence. This project was particularly challenging to our operators since the cut extended 600+ feet above the existing road. 
 
Mill Road to Tiger SR 20

This project required 11 miles of reconstruction and drainage to create a frost-free road. Included in this work was clearing and grubbing, re-fencing, slope flattening and widening, controlled blasting of rock face, drainage, erosion control, aggregate surfacing, gabion walls, guardrail and traffic control. This project required working in USFS sensitive areas. Excavation alone exceeded 200,000 cubic meters. Due to extremely wet conditions, slope armoring was required by change order to control erosion.
 
Spruce Canyon SR-20
