This position includes highly skilled mechanical work and maintenance of all types of automotive/fleet and construction equipment.  Must be knowledgeable in fueling procedures.  Will assist mechanic as necessary.  Must be knowledgeable of the mechanical functions of all types of automotive/fleet and basic construction equipment.  Must have knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical/electronic systems common to the construction field.  Must have the ability to read, understand and carry out instructions from repair manuals.  Must have the ability to plan and layout maintenance work independently.  Must have the ability to maintain routine work records efficiently and completely.  Must have the ability to operate a wide variety of automotive/fleet equipment for road testing and operational checks.  Skill in using hand and power tools commonly used in construction repair (e.g. electronic test equipment, oxy/acetylene, welder, etc.).   All work is performed under the direct/indirect supervision of the Lead Mechanic and is reviewed for overall results.

Safety Coordinator/Manager

Heavy Highway Construction Co is seeking a Safety Coordinator/Manger to support projects that are located in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana and potentially other Western states. The Safety Coordinator/Manager works closely with project managers and supervisors to ensure compliance and provide support on all safety matters.

Manager will ultimately be responsible for assisting M.A. DeAtley in becoming the leader in safety in our industry.

 Manager is responsible for supervising, developing and coordinating a comprehensive safety, health and accident preven-tion program.

 Work involves conducting safety inspections, incident/accident/near miss investigations.

 Will work in coordination with Human Resources for employee safety training programs.

 Work also includes ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations and guidelines. Develop programs and policy to comply with regulatory agency safety and health requirements.

 Work involves leading safety meetings and providing consultation to the safety committee and to managers in identifying and resolving health and safety problems.

 Receives and responds to employee complaints, questions, and concerns relative to occupational health and safety mat-ters. Take appropriate administrative and/or emergency actions when necessary and/or refer for resolution.

 Prepare necessary reports and communications to managers, employees, safety committees, etc. to provide information on safety and health issues.

 The employee must exercise judgment and discretion in meeting established objectives.

 Position will require a valid driver license. Some travel will be required and paid for by company.

M.A. DeAtley Construction is looking for a grade checker for a project located in Pullman WA.  Qualified applicants must have a background in surveying, engineering or mathematics.  Must be able to read and understand plans.  Must be able to read and understand surveying notes.  Must be able to accurately slope stake cuts and fills.  Must be able to grade check for underground work.  Must have a working knowledge of surveying equipment and use of lasers.  Knowledge of the current GPS and LPS systems helpful, however we will train on these systems.  Must have own reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
